Book Club in a Box

NSCLS has boxed sets of multiple copies of books with discussion questions available for community books clubs to borrow.  The book club in a box sets are available for checkout to any NSCLS member library through the Butte County Library.

Databases

24/7 access to articles from newspapers, reference books, and periodicals, many with full-text and images.  Databases include:  General Reference Center Gold, Virtual Reference Books, Chilton's Automotive Repair and Testing & Education Reference Center.  You must have a library card from your local library to access.

Indexes the music collections of the California Library System Reference Centers and some of the libraries in their systems.

Friends of the Library Book Sales Website

Friends groups can use the Friends of the Library Book Sales Website to sell quality used books. This site also features a helpful glossary of book terms.

Rural Library Initiative

The California State Library's Rural Initiative is an LSTA funded project that directs additional resources to the state's geographically isolated public libraries.

Trustee Training Resource

The Wyoming State Library has produced an informative, humorous program that can be used to introduce rural library board members to their new responsibilities. "Trustee Trouble: The misadventures of a new library board member" is a series of 10 segments with Dan, a new library trustee, launching himself into this new role. The video presentations, online at the Wyoming State Library’s web page, run from six to 12 minutes and are followed by guided discussion.
